KeyMath Teach & Practice (TAP) Alignment
The Teach and Practice sets are a great way to diagnostically / prescriptively address either a specific skill for an inidividual student, or for organizing small group math instruction around the BSSD Standards. These are most useful for the typical math concepts and operations in a K-8 math curriculum.
The KeyMath-R screening tool can be used to identify student weaknesses via item analysis. These are tied to the TAP materials as remediation, or can be used to measure progress over time as you move through any BSSD level.
The materials consist of sequential lessons that start with a teacher-delivered mini lesson for individuals or groups. These usually involve manipulatives, and could be expanded to use any modality. Students then progress through the work packets until mastery. This can take a couple of days, or a week, depending on the concept and the students. Greg Johnson purchased these sets for each BSSD school. Rebecca Concilus could explain over VTC how to use them.
These sets are very, very effective for sub-skill acquisition on a mastery model with any student population. Add Specific TAP Alignments to BSSD & Standards Here:

- AAA Math Arithmetic Lessons - AAA Math features a comprehensive set of interactive arithmetic lessons. Unlimited practice is available on each topic which allows thorough mastery of the concepts. Grades K-8.
- Native Ways of Knowing Math Materials UAF has culturally-based integrated lessons/units
- EdHelper - Standardized test prep materials, dynamic worksheets on all topics, critical thinking skills, story problems, and math puzzles. Full access to site requires a subscription.
- Fun Brain.com FunBrain is self-described as hosting the Internet's most popular educational games, including those teaching math.
- PurpleMath - Purplemath's algebra lessons are written with the student in mind. These lessons emphasize the practicalities rather than the technicalities, demonstrating dependable techniques, warning of likely "trick" questions, and pointing out common mistakes. The lessons are cross-referenced to help you find related material.
- Shodor Foundation Simulations - The Shodor Foundation is a non-profit research and education organization dedicated to the advancement of science and math education, specifically through the use of modeling and simulation technologies. Excellent site for online models and simulations.

- Science Vocabulary Hangman - The Jlab offers a stunning array of choices. Vocabulary areas include: 5th Grade and 7th Grade Math, Geometry Basics, Really Big Numbers, Numbers and Set, and an impressive variety of science vocabulary. You can even send in your own word list and they will create a game for you!
- Figure This! - Looking for problems of the week? Real world story problems? Three to four math challenges using real world examples are posted here each month. For those who need help solving the challenge, there are hints and complete solutions, along with related problems.
- Primary Math Games - Use the Curriculum Guide to find the right game or activity to meet your roughly K-4 grade classroom needs. The guide is broken up into four areas: Math, Language Arts, Science and Social Studies. Within each subject area, a checklist shows the skills and grade level appropriateness of each activity. Choose the grade level and math concept and have fun!
- Interactive Mathematics Activities - There are a multitude of resources on this website. The sheer number of interactive activities is amazing. If you are looking for something different, this is the place. Just a few of the activities: Abacus in Various Number Systems, Equivalent Fractions, Euclid's Game, Binary Color Device, Merlin's Magic Squares (modular arithmetic, boolean and linear algebra) and there are almost 300 more! Well worth exploring, even if you don't use any in the classroom!

- Illuminations Spanning the entire K-12 range and tied to NCTM Math Standards, this great resource includes:

- Internet-Based Lesson Plans: - Many examples of how the Internet can be used to help create effective Standards-based mathematics lessons.
