Understands issues of class, gender, religion, ethnicity and race; focusing on three of the following: The Womens Rights Movement, the Civil Rights Movement, First Amendment Issues in regard to Freedom of religion, Native Rights Movements, Latino Rights Movements, Environmental rights and protection, and the Rights of people who experience disabilities.

KNOW Students should have an understand of three different Civil Rights Movements. They should be able to describe the goals of the movement, the time period, the leaders, Landmark Events or Court Cases, and Effects on Modern Society.

Environmental Rights

Silent Spring Lesson plan from Project ARTiculate. Students learn about Rachel Carson and her book Silent Spring. Students create a project demonstrating the effect of pollution on plants.
