This kisaan is made from walrus ivory in the early 1800's and was used in traditional fishing practices. If one looks closely, one can see the two holes on the right side of the kisaan in which a line (probably made from seal hide thread) would be attached. This line would then be attached to the net, along with many others in order to sink the net.
