MODIFIED STANDARD:

Tell a locally significant story through oral, written, or dance/drama means of communication and understand its cultural significance.

STANDARD UNPACKED:

KNOW Students will know a culturally significant story.

ABLE TO DO Students will be able to tell a story out loud, through dance, a play, or write the story out. Students will be able to tell its cultural significance.

RESOURCES

Fellow students to act out plays, recordings of stories students can hear, books of each villages stories.

INSTRUCTION STRATEGIES:

Invite elders in to tell stories to the students. After hearing many stories students can select their favorite and choose a way to depict the story.

Ideas: They could make up a dance, write a play and act it out, make a story book, do an oral retelling or any other ideas they can come up with in order to communicate the story.
