Flatfishes
Have you looked at the flounders in our area? How many different kinds have you seen? Which side of their bodies are their eyes on?
Pleuronectidae: "Right-eye" flounders
The two flatfishes pictures above are less common (than Starry) smooth-skinned fish.
Starry flounder, Platichthys stellatus (though many of our Starrys are left-eyed, the species is still considered a right-eyed species)
Paralichthyidae: "Left-eye" flounders
Sculpins
Wolf Fish/Eels : Anarhichadidae
